As I talk about music a lot I thought it was about time that I put down a list of my favourite albums, as well as some books and TV shows that have inspired me or changed my life in some way, mostly by distracting me from doing real work.

Books:
I don’t read as much as I should. That being said these books are ones I consider to be the best of what I have read:
Gabriel Garcia Marquez – 100 Years of Solitude: The best book I have ever read. Without a doubt.
Niccolo Machiavelli – The Prince: A misunderstood book, but one that is really fun to read. It is like the inner-bastard in all of us waiting to get out.
Charlie Brooker – Screen Burn: No surprise here, but the book that has made me laugh out loud the most.
Albert Camus – The Plague: Some of the most beautiful writing I have come across in this book. Also one of the best ideas for a book that I have discovered. A fantastic but difficult read.
F. Scott Fitzgerald – The Great Gatsby: An easier read than some of the others but no less breathtakingly written.

TV:
The Wire: Everyone else has said it, but this is an awesome show.
Arrested Development: Is it the best sitcom ever? Yes
Peep Show: This show hits far too close to home for me. Endlessly quotable.
How I Met Your Mother: Great escapism – really, really addictive and easy to watch
Father Ted/Red Dwarf/Alan Partridge/Book Group/The Office (US/UK) – My favourite comedy shows
West Wing: I learned all I know about American politics from this
Teachers: Much under-rated, a really funny and clever show.
